Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are filming another show for Netflix.
Despite several broken contracts, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have decided to launch a new project with Netflix. According to Deadline, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will co-produce a drama series about polo, a sport Prince Harry has been passionate about since childhood. The title of the project has not yet been announced, but it will be set in the "thriving equestrian city" of Wellington, Florida, and will focus on the rivalry between two teams and the families behind them.
The idea for the project allegedly arose while Meghan and Harry were working on the documentary series "Polo," which chronicled the US Open and the family dynasties associated with it. The new series will be co-produced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's production company, Archewell Productions, and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage's Fake Empire studio. The script will be written by Francisca Hu, known for her work on "Dynasty" and "Sleepy Hollow."
The news of the series emerged amid rumors of a deteriorating relationship between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and the streaming giant. Netflix previously canceled the Duchess's cooking show, "Love, Meghan," after devastating reviews from viewers, and also ended its partnership with her brand, As Ever, which was deemed unsustainable for sale at the platform's brick-and-mortar locations. However, reports have suggested the true reason is the Duchess's difficult personality and lack of understanding of business ethics. Another setback was the cancellation of the "Archetypes" podcast on Spotify: the project enjoyed great success upon its launch in August 2022, but the partnership was terminated after the first season. At the time, Spotify CEO Bill Simmons called the Sussexes "f***ing frauds" for failing to meet their commitment to the number of episodes.
After unsuccessful projects, Meghan Markle began appearing as a guest star in paid retreats and began attending fashion shows for a fee. There's also a possibility that Markle will resume her acting career: the Duchess's plans were announced by her friend, casting director Eliza Roberts.
As a reminder, American actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, son of Princess Diana and King Charles III, officially stepped down as members of the royal family in 2020 and moved to the United States. The couple now lives with their children, six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet, in a $14.65 million mansion in the exclusive Montecito neighborhood of California, where Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jennifer Aniston have also purchased properties. Rumor has it that the Sussexes have had a rocky relationship with their neighbors. The documentary "Harry: The Lost Prince" previously reported that Meghan doesn't fit in with the rhythm of their upscale neighborhood and "doesn't participate in the community at all."
