King Charles III refuses to receive Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

King Charles III has no intention of accommodating his son, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle, at the royal residence when they visit London this summer. According to the Daily Mail, citing insiders, "broken trust and bitter experience" following years of public attacks by the couple remain the main obstacle to reconciliation.
According to a source, Prince Harry's friends have stated that he would like to receive an invitation from his father to spend time with his family at the King's private estate, Sandringham, when he arrives in the UK in July. They say he hopes to mend his relationship with his father, with whom he has not spoken for a long time.
However, sources close to 77-year-old Charles III made it clear that the path back is closed—at least for now. "If Harry really wants to mend his relationship with his father, he should first ask his people not to make it public," a friend of the monarch said, citing broken trust as the main obstacle to family reunification.
Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as royals and moved to the United States in 2020, Harry has seen his father only twice. Their relationship deteriorated after the publication of his memoir, "The Spare," in which the prince detailed conflicts with his brother and accused his family of indifference. His children, six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet, haven't seen their grandfather since 2022, when they visited London for Queen Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee. The 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex's last visit to the UK was also in 2022, following the death of Her Majesty.
Incidentally, royal circles also raised the unresolved issue of the couple's security in Britain. Harry has repeatedly demanded that the 24-hour security coverage he lost after leaving the country be reinstated at public expense. The king will reportedly not intervene for constitutional reasons.
