It was announced that Sony Pictures will produce a series about the investigation into billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, accused of years of sexually explicit crimes, including against children. This was reported on March 30 by Variety.

The film project will be based on the book "Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story" by journalist Julie K. Brown. The plot centers on the journalist's years-long investigation that led to the arrest of Epstein and his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell. Brown managed to identify 80 victims and persuade some of them to testify publicly. The plot will also include actual court transcripts and testimonies from Epstein's victims. Julie K. Brown will be played by Oscar winner ("Marriage Story") and star of "Big Little Lies," 59-year-old Laura Dern.

"The official description of the series says it's a shocking story about an investigative journalist who exposes a secret deal between Epstein and federal prosecutors," Variety notes.

Sharon Hoffman (House of Cards) and Eileen Myers (Undercovers) will serve as showrunners. Adam McKay will be one of the executive producers, alongside Laura Dern and Julie K. Brown. Netflix previously produced the series Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich.

As a reminder, billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in 2019 on charges of sex trafficking of minors. According to investigators, he lured dozens of girls into prostitution between 2002 and 2005. One of the victims of his sex crimes, it was later revealed, was nine years old. In August of that year, according to investigators, Epstein committed suicide in his prison cell—although the circumstances of his death have given rise to numerous conspiracy theories. His accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In January 2026, the US Department of Justice released over 3 million new files on the Epstein case. The files revealed the names of dozens of influential people, including Elon Musk, Prince Andrew, Bill Gates, and Donald Trump. These documents reveal that influential people who visited Epstein's island engaged in sex with minors and were rumored to have participated in satanic rituals. Some reports even suggest they practiced cannibalism.
