A big bunny, colorful eggs, and children's drawings: How Donald and Melania Trump celebrated Easter

Juliette Morgan

On Monday, US President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, held an Easter egg roll on the White House lawn, traditionally attended by young Americans and their parents. Rutherford B. Hayes, during his presidency in 1878, established the tradition of cheerful outdoor games in front of the White House, a tradition his descendants continue.

"Today is a day to celebrate Jesus," the president told guests from the White House balcony.

Donald Trump and Melania took numerous photos with children and their parents, participated in activities, and the president managed to speak with journalists. About forty thousand eggs were prepared for the event, and the decoration of the holiday this year refers to an important date - the United States is preparing to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the country.
