Zendaya refused to take a photo with Sydney Sweeney at the Euphoria premiere.

The third season of the acclaimed series "Euphoria" premiered in Los Angeles. The main cast members appeared on the red carpet to pose together, but judging by the final set of photos, Zendaya was the only one who chose not to be photographed with her co-star Sydney Sweeney. The reason for this is a long-standing feud.
Previously, Western media frequently reported that 28-year-old Zendaya has been avoiding contact with Sweeney due to her political views (the actress is an outspoken Republican) and her involvement in controversial advertising campaigns. Before the premiere of the third season, this information was considered speculation; now, however, it has been clearly confirmed.
Zendaya, 28, who likely recently married, chose a backless brown satin gown by Ashi Studio, accessorizing with diamond earrings. Sydney, 29, meanwhile, wore a crisp white dress from the 2007 Pierre Cardin collection, complete with a bow belt and draped like an angelic cape.
As a reminder, the conflict between the "Euphoria" stars has been going on for years. Zendaya reportedly distanced herself from her co-star during the filming of the second season. Sweeney herself has repeatedly stated that she has no intention of changing her views for the sake of others.
The controversial attitudes of some celebrities toward Sydney Sweeney stem from several factors. Take, for example, the controversial American Eagle jeans ad featuring Sweeney, which erupted in the summer of 2025. The ad's slogan was a play on the words "jeans" and "genes," resulting in the phrase "Sydney Sweeney has great genes." Social media users then believed the ad promoted eugenics and white supremacy, as the actress is a blonde, blue-eyed woman with a "Nordic" appearance.
Adding fuel to the fire is Sweeney's outspoken political stance. Last year, it was announced that the actress had registered as a Republican voter in Florida as of June 2024. This news immediately caught the attention of Donald Trump, who praised the actress and her much-criticized ad, calling it "hot."
Sweeney's reputation also suffers due to her public image. The actress is regularly criticized for overly revealing outfits on the red carpet and provocative photo shoots, but not because of the body she exposes, but because of her own ambivalent stance on the matter. Along with interviews in which the actress complains about the constant sexualization of her image and hyper-attention to her appearance, she herself continues to choose increasingly revealing outfits for public appearances and to star in racy photo shoots (including an ad for her own lingerie brand, Syrn).
It was recently revealed that 1950s Hollywood sex symbol Kim Novak opposed Sydney Sweeney playing her in a biopic because she "always looks sexualized."
