Knock on My Door star Hande Erçel, who was arrested in a drug case, tested negative for drugs.
On March 27, Turkish actress Hande Erçel was detained at Istanbul Airport on suspicion of drug trafficking. After Erçel testified and submitted to drug tests, she was released. The results of the test have now been released, according to Gazete Pencere.
A forensic examination of Hande Erçel's blood and hair samples conducted by the Center for Forensic Medicine revealed no traces of prohibited or stimulant substances. Therefore, all suspicions against the 32-year-old star were found to be unfounded, and her career and advertising contracts are no longer in jeopardy.
As a reminder, the prosecutor's office issued an arrest warrant for Erçel on March 25. The actress actively cooperated with the investigation: she voluntarily submitted tests and gave testimony, and in an official statement, she emphasized that she had never had any dealings with illegal substances. Erçel returned to Turkey the day before her arrest; she currently lives and studies abroad. According to the actress, upon learning that the Istanbul prosecutor's office had issued an arrest warrant for her and placed her on the wanted list, she immediately declared her willingness to cooperate and flew home on the next flight. Police met her at the Istanbul airport and escorted Hande to the investigative committee.
Hande's former lover, billionaire Hakan Sabanci, tried to defend her reputation: "I myself have never used drugs in my life, I have not even been in places where they are present. I know Hande Erçel. This man has never used drugs in my presence."
A large-scale anti-drug operation recently began in Turkey, which has already led to the loss of many local artists' jobs. Along with Hande, known to Russian viewers from the series "Knock on My Door," the defendants in the case include her former lover, businessman Hakan Sabancı, actress Birce Akalay ("Black and White Love"), actor Dogukan Günger ("Cranberry Sherbet"), and others.
