Jeff Bezos is selling his sailing yacht for $500 million.

Amazon founder and Met Gala's main sponsor, Jeff Bezos, is selling his $500 million sailing yacht, Koru, according to Page Six. The rumored reason for the sale is that the 127-meter "floating palace," which features a wooden mermaid sculpture of Bezos's wife, Lauren Sanchez, at its bow, is too cumbersome to navigate.
The vessel is known to have three jacuzzis, a helipad, and a glass-bottomed pool. Jeff Bezos' yacht also has a support vessel, the Abeona, valued at $75 million, but whether it is included in the deal is unclear. However, it is reported that operating both vessels costs $30 million per year, which may deter potential buyers.
As a reminder, Jeff Bezos's yacht, Koru, is one of the world's largest sailing yachts, which poses serious challenges. Last year, it was denied docking during the Monaco Grand Prix, and during the billionaire's wedding to Lauren Sanchez, the vessel was unable to approach the Venice lagoon. In 2022, the Oceanco shipyard planned to dismantle the historic Koningshaven Bridge in Rotterdam to allow Bezos's yacht passage, but after public threats to throw eggs at the vessel, the yacht was towed without its masts, which were installed beyond the bridge.
Today, it was announced that the 2026 Met Gala, whose main sponsors were Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, with a net worth of $224 billion, and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, raised a record $42 million. The couple's participation sparked protests from some celebrities: Meryl Streep declined to co-chair the Met Gala, while Zendaya and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and her wife also decided to skip the event.
