Kim Kardashian's metal-disc GMA gown is 1989 Paco Rabanne couture

Kim Kardashian turned a Wednesday morning talk show slot into a full red-carpet moment, stepping out at Good Morning America in a vintage Paco Rabanne haute couture gown from the designer's spring 1989 collection. She was there to promote Season 2 of Hulu's All's Fair, the series she stars in with friend and co-star Sarah Paulson, and the metal-heavy look is nearly as old as the Skims founder herself.
The gown is classic Paco Rabanne. A one-shouldered top is built entirely of metal discs, with a single short sleeve on the left arm, while the bodice gives way to a draped satin skirt below. Kardashian arrived with her castmates and went full evening glam for a daytime appearance, the kind of look that usually only comes out after dark.
The late French designer built his couture reputation on exactly this kind of hardware, from chainmail to metal plates, so the archival pick reads as a deliberate flex rather than a random closet find.
It was not an off-the-rack moment, either. Page Six reports the exact dress was recently listed on 1stDibs for $11,500, though it is unclear whether Kardashian (or her new stylist, Law Roach) actually bought it.
Not her first archive haul
This is far from her first spin through the Rabanne archive. For her birthday last month, she wore two versions of the same metal mesh caftan from the brand's fall 1996 haute couture collection. The signature metal mesh has become something of a Kardashian uniform in recent weeks.
The vintage marathon did not even stop at the studio door. Photographers caught her entering GMA earlier that morning in a second archival piece, a mesh overlay tank dress from Dolce & Gabbana's fall/winter 1997 collection.
With All's Fair landing on Hulu today, the press tour is winding down. The morning show stop was one of her final Season 2 appearances, and she finished it the way she started, in metal discs and mesh.
