Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth is back - and the new trailer finally shows the plot

Netflix released a fresh trailer on Friday for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, and it finally spells out what Brad Pitt's stuntman has been up to since 2019. The David Fincher-directed follow-up to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood jumps ahead to 1977, where Booth gets tangled in a scheme involving another Hollywood actor played by Scott Caan.
Quentin Tarantino wrote the screenplay but handed the camera to Fincher, the first time the two have traded the director's chair on a project. The film premieres in Imax on November 25 for a two-week run, then lands on Netflix on December 23, while top chains Regal and Cinemark will not be screening it.
The full cast rounds out with Elizabeth Debicki, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Peter Weller joining Caan and Pitt. It is a rare sequel move for Tarantino, who spent years insisting he would retire after a set number of films, only to let his iconic side character continue living in someone else's hands.
Pitt won the Supporting Actor Oscar for the original Booth, and Tarantino himself got the buzz rolling two weeks ago by surprising the AFI Fest crowd with the first 17 minutes of the movie. The early footage leaned into the character that made his performance an awards-season fixture.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood took home two Oscars in 2020, including Production Design, and the Cliff Booth project has been building since 2024, when Pitt and Fincher announced they were teaming on it. Netflix was the natural home given Fincher's ongoing deal with the streamer.
The new trailer is out now, and it gives the clearest look yet at the plot: a stuntman past his prime, a new decade, and a very different Hollywood. Imax first, couch after.
