Fake 49ers star Daejon Love gets a Netflix 'Untold' doc called 'Wide Deceiver'

The man who convinced more than a dozen women he was a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver is getting his own Netflix documentary. The streamer's Untold series will tell the story of Daejon Love in a film titled "Wide Deceiver" — a pun that fuses Love's fabricated position on the 49ers with the moniker the internet quickly hung on the fictitious athlete.
The documentary will feature firsthand accounts from the women allegedly deceived in the scheme, according to the announcement. Love is accused of defrauding over a dozen women out of roughly $1.3 million while posing as a professional NFL player and a Swiss real estate investor on dating apps and social media.
Where is Daejon Love now?
Before the 2026 NFL season began, Love and his alleged accomplice Taylor Jame Chan were arrested at the Boise airport and charged by criminal complaint in Portland, Oregon on August 24, 2026. The pair face conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud charges. Chan is accused of posing as Love's financial adviser, allegedly building fake investment accounts to make it appear as though Love was growing his wealth and lending the scam legitimacy.
The premise exploded into a genuine internet phenomenon, with actual NFL players leaning into the bit. Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley posted several photos of himself on X with the caption, "Believe it or not I'm in the NFL." Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward shared an AI-generated image of himself and Love in the Steelers locker room, joking, "Bro… he was JUST at the facility."
Love's documentary joins a run of Untold projects the streamer has recently released, including films on University of Texas football legend Vince Young, 2024 Olympic breakdancer Rachael "Raygun" Gunn, and wrestling icon Mr. T. No release date for the "Wide Deceiver" has been announced yet.
