Edition opens first African hotel in Cape Town, W Las Vegas relaunches Skyfall bar

The Cape Town Edition, one of the most anticipated hotel openings of the year, is finally open. Set on the V&A Waterfront, the 142-room property is the Edition brand's first outpost in Africa, with art and interiors chosen to reflect the continent's creative scene, a spa and several dining and bar outlets.
That is the headline from a busy stretch of hotel news this week, and it is not the only place worth booking. In Las Vegas, the W has made good on its 2024 takeover of the former Delano at Mandalay Bay by relaunching Skyfall Rooftop Bar & Lounge. Perched on the 64th floor, the space was redesigned by Rockwell Group with bold interiors framing floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic views of the Strip. The lobby's Living Room bar got a refresh too.
"Together, these spaces sophisticatedly blend glamour, futuristic energy, and immersive nightlife to capture the true spirit of Las Vegas," W Las Vegas said in a statement.
In Rome, the Thompson brand has also landed in Italy for the first time. The 69-room Thompson Rome, a short walk from Piazza Venezia, pairs restored details from the original building with a contemporary Mediterranean restaurant, a rooftop cocktail bar and a lobby bar.
