Amber Heard gave an interview after the trial with Johnny Depp: "He's a favorite character, and people feel they know him"

Amber Heard gave her first interview after she lost a lawsuit against Johnny Depp's ex-husband: she was found guilty of defamation and ordered to pay $ 15 million in compensation.

In a special issue on NBC, in a conversation with host Savannah Guthrie, the actress admitted that she understands why the jury ruled in favor of Johnny Depp.

How could they make another decision? They listened to testimony from paid employees for three weeks, and at the end of the trial — testimony from random people. I don't blame them, I understand them. He's a beloved character and people feel like they know him. He's a fantastic actor," she said.

In addition, she added that, thanks to the work of Johnny Depp's team, people got the impression that she could not be trusted. Even those who are sure that I deserve such hatred, even those who think that I am lying, you cannot, looking into my eyes, say that there was a fair representation of me on social networks.

I don't care much what anyone thinks about me, or what happens behind the closed doors of my house. People shouldn't know anything about my personal life at all. The full version of the interview will be released on June 17.

After the conclusion of the trial in favor of Johnny Depp, Amber Heard spoke on social networks. She admitted that she fears how her defeat in court will affect the MeToo movement, in which women talk about their experiences of violence.

I'm disappointed in what this verdict means for other women. This is a failure. This brings us back to the time when a woman who is not afraid to speak out could be shamed and humiliated in public. This refutes the idea that violence against women should be taken seriously," she wrote on Instagram*.

Amber Heard's lawyer also said that the actress has no way to pay compensation. Johnny Depp's representatives noted that for the actor, this trial was not for money: he wanted to restore his reputation. Moreover, Johnny Depp can refuse the $8 million that Amber owes him.
