Charles III addressed the nation for the first time after announcing he had cancer

Buckingham Palace has published Charles III's official address to the British people - the first since it was announced that His Majesty had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The monarch expressed “heartfelt gratitude” to his subjects for the enormous support provided to him after the diagnosis was made public.

“Anyone who has been affected by cancer knows that such kind thoughts are uplifting and provide the greatest comfort. It is equally encouraging to hear that the decision to speak out about my own diagnosis has helped to deepen public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organizations that support cancer patients and their families in the UK and around the world. I admire their tireless care and dedication, and my personal experience has only enhanced this admiration,” the king said in a statement.

The fact that Charles III was diagnosed with cancer became known in early February. The monarch was diagnosed after undergoing surgery due to an enlarged prostate. His Majesty is currently undergoing planned treatment, during which doctors recommended postponing public duties. The other day, Charles III's wife, Queen Camilla, said that her husband was feeling well and that he was “very touched by the letters and messages he receives from everywhere.”

British royal family expert Tom Bower suggests the British monarch may refuse chemotherapy and opt for treatment with “herbs and potions” as he has always been a supporter of alternative medicine.

Let us also recall that in January it became known not only about the king’s illness, but also about Kate Middleton’s hospitalization. Prince William's wife underwent abdominal surgery.
