Celine Dion Reveals in Documentary What She Experiences During Spasms Due to Rare Disease

Singer Celine Dion showed the spasms she experiences due to stiff-muscle syndrome in the documentary "I Am Celine Dion." Parts of the video were published by E! News.

The footage shows 56-year-old Celine Dion in severe spasms. She cries as doctors try to help her with massage and painkillers. Therapist Terrill Lobo explains that the body in this state does not always understand when to stop and simply remains in a spasmodic state. Celine Dion herself says: "If I can't run, I'll walk. If I can't walk, I'll crawl. But I won't stop."

The world premiere of the film "I Am Celine Dion" took place on June 25. Celine Dion came to it accompanied by her 23-year-old son René-Charles, the singer's eldest son from her husband René Angélil, who died of cancer in 2016.

In the documentary, the singer talks about her struggle with stiff-muscle syndrome. Because of it, she experiences attacks of uncontrollable muscle spasms that prevent her from living and working fully. Celine Dion was diagnosed 17 years ago, but she hid it from the public for a long time until she canceled her world tour because of it in 2022.

Celine Dion recently posed topless for the cover of Vogue. In an interview, she said that she tries to "accept" her illness every day and learn to "manage" it.
