Actor David Duchovny said he was the one who "discovered" Angelina Jolie when he auditioned for the 1997 film Playing God. He spoke about this on his own podcast Fail Better.

David Duchovny was asked on a podcast about his experience starring opposite Angelina Jolie in Playing God, to which he responded that he was the one who "discovered" the then little-known star: "Yeah, I was casting her. I wasn't expecting her, but she showed up, and I knew she was a movie star." Despite this, the film was a box office flop and didn't bring much success to either David Duchovny or Angelina Jolie.

Before this film, the actress had several roles in low-budget films, short films and music videos, as well as the lead role in the film "Hackers", which was released in 1995. Angelina Jolie gained worldwide fame after the film "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider".

Now Angelina Jolie is not only a famous actress, but also a producer: the musical "The Outsiders", with which she worked, received 12 Tony Award nominations and won in four categories, including "Best Musical".
