Anne Hathaway's doctor nixed Hot Ones — she'll call Sean Evans if baby is overdue

Anne Hathaway was ready to sweat through the Hot Ones wing gauntlet to promote her new thriller Verity — until her doctor stepped in. Pregnant with her third child, the actor is now joking that she is holding on to host Sean Evans' phone number just in case.
“Spicy foods impacted me in the past, let's just say that,” Hathaway told E! News at the Verity premiere in New York City on Sept. 29. “And so it kind of seemed like the right thing to do. Why take any unnecessary chances?”
The reason for skipping the challenge, she explained last week, is simple. She assumed she would film a Hot Ones stop to promote the Colleen Hoover adaptation, but pregnancy changed the math. “I got pregnant and my doctor said I couldn't do it because I might go into early labor,” she told Talk of the Townsends.
Her Verity character, bestselling author Verity Crawford, does make a fake appearance on the Evans-hosted series in the film, so Hathaway got close to the bit without the full burn. She did manage to eat a few of the actual wings on set, but the spicy run is still unfinished. “I still haven't done the gauntlet yet. I'm not sure when that's gonna happen,” she said. “Maybe next year.”
The one number she's keeping
That is where the overdue joke comes in. With sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, at home with husband Adam Shulman, Hathaway is not taking the spice risk twice — but she has a contingency. “But if the baby is overdue, I might be giving Sean a call,” she told E! News.
Between the wing talk, Hathaway also had warm words for co-star Dakota Johnson. “I love her. She's the most adorable, amazing, surprising person,” she said. “It's not even that she marches to the beat of her own drummer — it's like she's hearing the coolest music ever.”
Verity hits theaters Oct. 2, also starring Josh Hartnett and Ismael Cruz Córdova.
