Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato recreate Princess Protection Program poster for Rare Beauty

Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are back together, and they're doing it in full princess mode. The pair re-created the poster from their 2009 Disney movie "Princess Protection Program" for a new Rare Beauty collaboration, 16 years after the film made them tween royalty.
The newly reunited friends posed in matching gowns and tiaras, perched on top of a pile of luggage, mirroring the original shot. "Once a Princess, always a Princess," Gomez wrote on Instagram alongside the images, adding: "Best friends don't just have each other's backs. They make them blush too."
The team-up centers on the Delena Soft Pinch Blush Bundle, a $50 set that pairs Rare Beauty's best-selling liquid blush in two shades, Hope and Virtue, with a blush brush. Just like in the film, Gomez wears a teal gown while Lovato sits pretty in yellow, though both looks got a serious upgrade. Gomez slipped into an Oscar de la Renta tiered number from the house's resort 2016 collection, while Lovato wore a yellow embellished Leo Lin mini that retails for $3,295.
A friendship decades in the making
The two met in 2002, at age seven, when they both auditioned for "Barney" on the same day, so this reunion has nearly 25 years of history behind it. "The reunion the internet has been manifesting for years is finally here," Rare Beauty said in a press release.
Gomez called the campaign "a beautiful reminder of that history and a chance to celebrate who we are today. One and the same....always." Lovato echoed the sentiment: "Selena and I have shared a lot of memories over the years since childhood. So being able to connect in this way, in a campaign that feels so nostalgic to both of us, is such a full-circle moment."
It hasn't always been smooth sailing. Lovato admitted in a 2020 Harper's Bazaar interview that the two had a brief falling-out, saying, "When you grow up with somebody, you're always going to have love for them. But I'm not friends with her... I will always have love for her." Disney fans got their reconciliation moment in April, though, when Gomez showed up to support Lovato from the audience at her concert.
