Delta adds Salt Lake City–Flagstaff nonstops, a new gateway to the Grand Canyon

Delta Air Lines is putting Flagstaff, Arizona, on its route map and giving travelers a faster way to reach two of the Southwest's biggest draws. Beginning June 7, 2027, the carrier will operate two nonstop flights a day between Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) and Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG). Flagstaff sits less than a two-hour drive from both Sedona and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
The service will use a 50-seat Bombardier CRJ-550 regional jet, with 10 first-class seats, 20 Delta Comfort+ seats and 20 economy seats — a touch more premium room than the usual regional hop.
A bigger play for its Salt Lake City hub
Flagstaff is the latest feeder spoke in Delta's Western expansion from Salt Lake City. The airline added nonstops to Grand Junction, Colorado, and Santa Barbara, California, in 2024, then Monterey and Sonoma County in California this year, according to schedule data from aviation analytics firm Cirium. Those short hops connect into new intercontinental routes from the Utah capital, including nonstops to Lima, Peru, and Seoul that launched in 2025.
Delta becomes only the second carrier at Flagstaff, joining American Airlines, which flies to Dallas Fort Worth and Phoenix. The route is backed by more than $1.3 million in incentives — including an $800,000 federal grant — that guarantee Delta a minimum amount of revenue.
At nearly 7,000 feet along historic Route 66, Flagstaff has long been the practical gateway to both the Grand Canyon's South Rim and the red-rock country around Sedona. The twice-daily schedule starts right at the edge of the busy summer travel season.
For Delta flyers and SkyMiles members, the new spoke also opens one-stop connections through Salt Lake City to the airline's growing international board, including those new Lima and Seoul nonstops.
For Grand Canyon and Sedona visitors, it adds an alternative to the roughly two-and-a-half-hour drive north from Phoenix Sky Harbor — turning a road-trip add-on into a nonstop destination in its own right.
