Park Hyatt's first all-inclusive is now booking December stays

Park Hyatt is finally joining the all-inclusive game. Park Hyatt Riviera Maya, the brand's first-ever all-inclusive property set south of Cancun, is taking reservations now for stays beginning in early December — and the promise is that it won't feel like the buffet-everything megaresort you may have pictured.

"This is a Park Hyatt," general manager Sam Kirby told The Points Guy. "First and foremost, it's a Park Hyatt — it just happens to have an all-inclusive lens over the top." The resort spans 148 rooms and suites, each with an ocean view, outdoor space and a personal "resort ambassador," plus restaurants, bars, the Velara Spa and pools.

Kirby's plan is to flip the usual all-inclusive formula — same everything for everyone — into individual service. Before you arrive, his team figures out what you actually drink, eat and want to do. "If you drink Coke, you probably don't drink Diet Coke. So why are we loading everyone's minibars with the same things?"

What an all-inclusive Park Hyatt includes

The food-and-beverage program carries the Park Hyatt name: top-shelf spirits, a globe-spanning wine list and an executive chef with Michelin-starred kitchen experience. Dining is a la carte rather than buffet, with premium upgrades if you want rare wines or an ultra-premium steak.

The bigger draw may be what's taken away — the tiny charges. You won't watch $28 margaritas stack up or sign a check after every meal. The ocean-view room is guaranteed, and even laundry is covered. "It doesn't matter what you choose. You don't have to worry about it," Kirby said, describing a place of "mental freedom."

Park Hyatt isn't alone here. Marriott brought The Luxury Collection into the segment and opened the world's first W all-inclusive last year; JW Marriott is opening one in Costa Rica's Guanacaste region. Kirby's closing pitch: the same brand standard, wallet locked in the safe. "You walk in the door, now it's up to us."
