Kanye West demanded that his “slave name” not be used and called for him to be called Ye
Kanye West has demanded that the music industry call him Ye and no longer use his "slave name." This was announced by his representative Milo Yiannopoulos in a letter that was obtained by PageSix.
"Ye is one of the most recognizable people in the world, right up there with presidents and the Pope. His decision to change his name, potentially sacrificing some of the enormous value that the Kanye West brand carries, was not taken lightly. The change was made in its entirety, legally and forever. That's who he is now. His name is Ye."
In the letter, the rapper's rep called on "streaming platforms, publishers, stores, unions, lyric sites" to make the necessary changes as they are among the "most visible places." "There have been a number of times when his slave name has been used. He is Ye, a black man from America who, like everyone else, wants the right to full self-determination."
The rapper has used the name Ye as the name of his Instagram account* since 2018, and in 2021 he officially changed his name. However, in the press he is still called by his full name.
Recently, the rapper, despite the release of a new album, most often ends up in the tabloids due to scandals associated with him. The most talked about images are the images of his wife Bianca Censori, for whom he chooses outfits himself, making her, according to many, the new Kim Kardashian. At the same time, unlike Kim, Bianca’s images are very frank: she often goes out in transparent tights without underwear or transparent tops. Because of this, her relatives are worried about the girl: many believe that the rapper is suppressing her will.
