Diss on Kim Kardashian, mentions of Travis Kelsey: everyone is discussing Taylor Swift's new album

On Friday, April 19, Taylor Swift released her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, as well as an expanded version that includes 15 additional tracks. This release caused a lot of noise and is being actively discussed online: there are several reasons for this, in addition to its musical merits. We collected them in this material.

Diss on Kim Kardashian

Taylor's fans are sure that in at least one of the songs, thanK you aIMee, the singer metaphorically speaks about a long-standing conflict with Kim Kardashian. We're talking about the time Kanye West used Swift's name in his track, which included the following words: “I think Taylor and I can still have sex. Why? Yeah, because I made that bitch famous.” Kim then supported her now ex-husband by posting an excerpt from a conversation with Swift, where she agreed to be mentioned in the song. Taylor then faced criticism from the public, but it later turned out that the full version of the conversation did not contain a single mention of Kanye publicly calling her a “bitch.”

And in her new composition, Taylor sings about an angry girl with a fake tan whom she cannot forgive. Even though this girl's name is technically Aimee, the track title features the letters K, I and M. “I don't think you've changed much since then, so I changed your name so you won't be identifiable. Someday your baby will come home singing my song, but only the two of us will know it's about you,” the lyrics read. Similar references to the conflict are found in the song Cassandra.

It's worth noting that not everyone appreciated Taylor's diss on Kim. Many Internet users believe that it is time for the singer to stop clinging to the same old drama. So, in the telegram channel Pechenyushki&Co wrote: “I can no longer cope with the amount of information about Taylor Swift and the fact that she cannot work through her grievances and problems from 10 years ago.”

As for Kim, she did not react in any way to the alleged attack in her direction. As the Daily Mail writes, citing its source, the TV star feels humiliated and driven into a corner. She decided to remain silent because she knows what Swift's army of fans is capable of.

Actors from the movie “Dead Poets Society” in the Fortnight video

In addition to the album, Taylor released a video for the song Fortnight, which featured actors from the film “Dead Poets Society,” Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles. The fact is that when creating the album, Swift was also inspired by the famous film by Peter Weir. In the black-and-white clip, Ethan and Josh play scientists conducting experiments on Taylor after her failure in love. On her social networks, the singer posted a photo with the actors and wrote: “It still makes me laugh how we worked with the coolest guys in the world, Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles. Martyred poets, meet your fellow dead poets down the hall.”

Broken records

Just a few hours after its release, The Tortured Poets Department album became the record holder for most streamed songs in a day, displacing Beyonce's new record from the pedestal, and Taylor herself became the most streamed artist in a day.

Mentions of Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift often shares details of her personal life through music: she has more than once dedicated songs to ex-boyfriends, and her current lover, football player Travis Kelsey, also did not escape this fate. So far, Taylor has had the best things to say about him. In one of the songs, So High School, Swift sings about how her new relationship feels like a high school romance. The text contains the following words: “Will you marry me, kiss me or kill me? It’s a gamble, but to be honest, I’m betting on all three.”

By the way, in honor of the release of the Fortnight video, Taylor posted a short video on social networks, which contains footage of Kelsey kissing her on the cheek while she is preparing dinner.

Taylor was recently spotted at the Coachella festival with Travis.
