"This shit was always going on behind my back." Chiara Ferragni reveals husband's infidelities as fraud trial looms
Fashion blogger and designer Chiara Ferragni, whose reputation was at risk after a scandal involving a Christmas charity event, has been charged with criminal fraud after she admitted that her husband had cheated on her.
In 2023, Ferragni was fined almost €1.1 million after an advertising campaign for a charity event selling Pandoro Easter cakes. At the time, she promised that the profits from the sale of the baked goods, which cost 2.5 times more than usual, would go to the treatment of children with cancer. However, in the end, her company, which earned more than €1 million from the project, made no contributions.
Ferragni, 37, has now been charged with fraud "in connection with misleading statements about charity" - despite the model's insistence that there was a "communication error". Her trial is set to begin on September 23 in a Milan court, and she faces up to five years in prison, BusinessOfFashion reports.
Against this backdrop, Ferragni made a frank statement about what was happening in her family with rapper Fedez (real name - Federico Lucia). On her Instagram*, Chiara said that all these years her husband had been cheating on her, and even on their wedding day he called his mistress and promised to marry her. The blogger said that she kept silent for the sake of the children.
"Now I can no longer remain silent. All this shit has been going on behind my back. A few days before Christmas 2024, Federico called me (knowing full well that he was talking to me on the phone) and for the first time confessed to the affair with this woman, which had been going on since 2017. And he also told me that he was thinking about not marrying me, a few days before the wedding," she wrote.
Ferragni's marriage crisis had been known for some time. The financial scandal she found herself in coincided with the news that Fedez had been diagnosed with cancer. The Italian press reported that the musician had moved out of their home in Milan, and he himself soon confirmed the breakup. Chiara herself also admitted to problems in the family on a local talk show.
Italian millionaire blogger Chiara Ferragni became famous for her blog about fashion, family and travel. In 2017, she took first place in the Forbes list of "Top Fashion Influencers", and her Instagram* now has almost 30 million subscribers. The scandal with Christmas cakes had a negative impact on Chiara Ferragni's career. In addition to the fine, she also agreed to pay at least 1.2 million euros to a children's charity to settle the case, but this did not help. Even Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni criticized her. Advertising contracts with the influencer began to be terminated, including by Coca-Cola.
Ferragni got engaged to Fedez in May 2017, six months after they met. The engagement took place at the rapper's concert, which was broadcast live on Italian TV. On September 1, 2018, Chiara and Fedez had a wedding in Sicily, which was called the event of the year in the fashion world: the bride's dress was specially created by the Dior brand, and a total of three outfits were prepared for the celebration. The couple, who are raising a six-year-old son Leone and a three-year-old daughter Vittoria, have the status of superstars in their native Italy.
