Kim Kardashian wears Elizabeth Taylor's 1969 'Scorpio' cape in All's Fair Season 2

Season 2 of "All's Fair" is almost here, and Kim Kardashian is again bringing part of her own closet to set. In Hulu's new sneak peek, her character, powerhouse lawyer Allura Grant, steps out in a black velvet hooded cape with two embellished scorpions on the chest and a matching one hidden on the back of the hood — a Tiziani Roma design Elizabeth Taylor actually wore to Grace Kelly's 40th birthday party in 1969.
The original "Scorpio Evening Cape" debuted at Monaco's Scorpio Ball, named for the princess's zodiac sign and, handily, the sign of Taylor's then-husband Richard Burton. Taylor paired it with the famous Taylor-Burton Diamond necklace, a 69.42-carat drop. After her divorce from Burton, she sold the diamond in 1979 for $5 million to help finance a hospital in Botswana.
A cape with an auction history
The cape has been around the block. Christie's sold it in 2011 as part of the Elizabeth Taylor Collection, fetching $60,000 plus the buyer's premium — $74,500 all in. The auction listing added a tantalizing note: Karl Lagerfeld was Tiziani's freelance designer at the time, "and this cape may well be one of his designs."
Page Six reports it's unclear whether Kardashian owns the original, bought it privately, or simply had the look re-created. The trailer shows her in a version of the sparkling necklace too, and Sarah Paulson's character Carrington Lane also takes a turn in the cape, suggesting the wardrobe team made multiples for filming.
This is not Grant's first borrowed iconography. Last season Kardashian stocked the character's closet with her own archival and vintage pieces plus an array of real and faux Hermès Birkin bags. The same trailer even has Grant joking about the bar exam — "Didn't pass on my first try" — a wink at Kardashian's own very public legal-studies journey.
With an October 21 birthday, Kardashian misses the Scorpio window by two days. The cape's astrological theme still lands, even if her sign doesn't.
