Sydney Sweeney wears dark brown wig at Santa Monica Pier — fans ask 'Hannah Montana?'

Sydney Sweeney hid her signature flaxen hair under a dark brown wig with bangs on Oct. 14 and spent the day going undercover at the Santa Monica Pier. The goal, apparently, was a full day of blending in with the seaside crowd — and for a while, it worked.

The 29-year-old "Euphoria" star credited friend Jayde Emory Hafner with the disguise, captioning a series of snaps from their outing, "when ur bestie shows up and says 'here put this wig on' 😂🥰."

Sweeney dressed for the part in a Santa Monica souvenir T-shirt, denim shorts and white sneakers — the kind of look that disappears into a pier crowd. The pair hit the arcade between rides, posed for selfies, refueled with chicken tenders and fries, and soaked up some sun. In one video from the day, Sweeney took on the "Hang Time" challenge, dangling from a pull-up bar for a full minute.

The disguise nearly held. Her A-list accessories — huge diamond studs, $615 Bottega Veneta sunglasses and a $3,400 The Row bag — may have blown the whole cover. A souvenir tee only hides so much when the handbag costs more than the vacation.

Fans only half-recognized her

The reactions rolled in fast. "That you Hannah Montana?" one commenter asked. Another wrote, "I didn't even recognize her." Hafner's husband added a gentle dig of his own: "A couple of small town sisters on their big California vacation 🎡😆." It was the kind of comment only a friend's spouse gets away with.

It's not Sweeney's first lap as a brunette. She wore a brown mullet wig on the "Christy" set and donned a black bob for the 2024 Met Gala. Her most dramatic real-life switch came last October, when she cut her long blond hair into a chic chin-length look. That wavy length has since grown back — and this time she didn't reach for the scissors.

Going by her caption, the bangs were strictly a rental — borrowed, worn to the pier, and returned by sunset.
