Costco's new $12.99 lemon cream caramelized croissants are a blueberry spinoff

Costco's bakery case just got a sweet-and-tangy new arrival. The warehouse chain has dropped lemon cream caramelized croissants, a direct spinoff of the blueberry cheesecake croissants that became a member favorite last year. The new six-pack is priced at $12.99, and it lands just as the bakery stacks pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin pie for October.
The shape is the first clue this isn't an ordinary croissant. Instead of the usual crescent, each one is baked in a round paper liner with the corners of flaky pastry folded over the top, tucking the cream into the middle. Inside sits a soft, tangy lemon cream, finished with a butter streusel. Sugar placed at the bottom of the cups before baking caramelizes as it bakes, melting into a sweet, slightly crunchy base.
The bet is a safe one. Delish notes that last year's blueberry cheesecake version quickly entered the Costco bakery's "hall of fame," so seeing a lemon spinoff felt like only a matter of time.
A quick verdict from the bakery aisle
Laura Lamb of @costcohotfinds — whose affection for the blueberry cheesecake original is well-documented — posted the warehouse discovery and raved about the balance of sweet and tangy. She went further, calling the lemon version "one of the best desserts the Costco bakery has ever done."

Shoppers in the comments already suspect they'll agree before the pastries even hit their carts. "This is exactly why I can't walk through the bakery," one Instagram user wrote. "The blueberry ones were so good I can only imagine how delicious this will be," another added.
The loudest request, though, is a mashup. "Hear me out... put blueberries on this version," one member suggested, while another put it more directly: "They should combine the lemon and blueberry." Considering the following behind Costco's seasonal lemon blueberry loaf, a lemon-blueberry croissant feels like the next easy win for the bakery case.
