Meghan Markle and Prince Harry buy a house in Europe to be closer to the royal family
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have purchased property in Europe. The couple, who moved to California several years ago, have bought a home closer to the royal family — in Portugal. According to the Daily Mail, buying property in Portugal could allow the couple to obtain a "golden visa," which would grant them visa-free access to the European Union's Schengen zone.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex acquired the property in Europe after the current King of Great Britain and Harry's father asked them to leave Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, which Queen Elizabeth II gave them as a wedding gift.
43-year-old Megan and 40-year-old Harry became the owners of a mansion in a luxurious residential complex on the Atlantic Ocean coast CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, consisting of 300 houses. The couple's new property, where they plan to regularly come to relax, is located in the small town of Melides, 130 kilometers from the capital of Portugal, Lisbon.
The choice of new housing is not accidental. Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank also own property in Portugal, and Brooksbank is in charge of marketing and sales at CostaTerra. According to the source, it was they who advised Meghan and Harry to buy property here. Moreover, Meghan and Harry have already been here: last year, they spent a three-day vacation in the country and stayed at the CostaTerra complex together with Princess Eugenie and her husband.
Recall that actress Meghan Markle and the son of King Charles III and Princess Diana, Prince Harry, got married in 2018. In 2019, the couple had a son, Prince Archie, and in 2021, Princess Lilibet was born. In 2020, the couple stepped down from their royal duties and moved to the United States. Since then, there have been tense relations between Prince Harry and his close relatives, including because Harry and Meghan publicly say various unpleasant things about their relatives.
