"The Queen of Zoomers." The internet is buzzing about New York City's new First Lady, Rama Duwaji, the youngest in history.

The internet is buzzing about the 28-year-old wife of the new New York City Mayor, Zohran Mamdani, Rama Duwaji. The young Syrian-born first lady has been dubbed the Queen of Zoomers and admired for her style.
Born in Texas and raised in Dubai, Rama Duwanji, New York City's youngest First Lady, is not only the mayor's wife but also a respected New York artist, illustrator, and ceramicist. Duwanji's work explores Arab culture, female identity, and sisterhood, while also connecting them to politics and activism. Duwanji's work has been published in The New Yorker, BBC, Vogue, Tate Modern, and many other renowned publications, and her social media blog has amassed over 700,000 followers.
Rama prefers to dress in the "vintage" style, fashionable among creative Zoomers. She mixes boho, grunge, and eclectic styles. She wears cowboy boots with flowing skirts or sheer blouses—like a free-spirited Eastern woman. "Our First Lady," "Queen," are the comments under Duvanji's social media posts from people not only in New York but also from other countries.
Rama met her husband, 34-year-old Zohran Mamdani, on Tinder (a dating app) when he was "just a member of parliament." It's fitting that Rama showed up to support her husband in the New York City mayoral race wearing the boots she wore when she married him earlier this year.
Now, the First Lady and her husband are styled by stylist Bailey Moon, who has worked with former US First Lady Jill Biden and other politicians. At the election results announcement, Rama posed on the podium next to her husband wearing a top by Palestinian designer Zeid Hijazi (the couple openly supports Palestine in the conflict with Israel) and a skirt by the New York-based brand Ulla Johnson, which is headed by a woman.
As a reminder, Zohran Mamdani became the youngest mayor of New York City in 100 years and the first Muslim to hold the post. The Democratic candidate garnered over 50% of the city's vote. As mayor, Zohran plans to implement numerous reforms to support the poor and immigrants: he promised to raise taxes on the wealthy, open community stores in every borough, make buses free, introduce free preschool, and increase the minimum wage from $16.50 an hour to $30. Mamdani's victory sparked widespread public outcry, and Trump called him a "communist fanatic," noting that he would not allocate funds for his initiatives.
