According to historian Robert Lacey, the brothers ' relationship soured after Kensington Palace staff accused Meghan Markle of rude behavior and bullying. Lacey writes about this in her book Battle of Brothers: The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult, an excerpt from which was published in The Times.

The author claims that when William heard complaints from the royal staff about his daughter-in-law, he and Harry had a bitter argument.
