Thoughts on suicide and the gender of the child: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey

Prince Harry and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, spoke with American TV presenter Oprah Winfrey. During the conversation, the couple talked about the secret wedding, the gender of the unborn child, and Meghan Markle said how she wanted to commit suicide and how they discussed the skin color of their first child.

The conversation lasted two hours and aired on CBS.

Child's gender and heir's skin color

During the conversation, the couple talked about the gender of the child, which Meghan Markle is talking about. According to Prince Harry, the couple will have a baby girl.

The Duchess of Sussex also said that during her first pregnancy, the skin color of her unborn child was actively discussed.

– In those months when I was pregnant, during the same period there was talk that the child would not be provided with protection, and she would not receive the title, and there were also concerns and conversations about how dark her skin would be after birth, – said Meghan Markle .

At the same time, the Duchess did not specify who exactly said this. According to her, her husband gave it to her. But Prince Harry himself declined to comment.

Thoughts of suicide and a secret wedding

The Duchess of Sussex herself said that after her marriage to Prince Harry, she often felt lonely. She admitted that she felt like she was being held captive after her driver's license, passport and bank cards were taken away from her immediately after the wedding ceremony.

And before the marriage, she “constantly” had thoughts of suicide.

"These were very clear, real, and very scary thoughts... I couldn't be left alone," she clarified.

Meghan Markle even wanted to go to the hospital. But she was dissuaded from doing so, because it could cause a bad reaction.

The Duchess also said that she married Prince Harry three days before the public ceremony of their wedding, which could be watched by everyone. The official ceremony took place on May 18, 2018.

The private ceremony, according to Markle, was not attended by the families of the newlyweds, only the Archbishop of Canterbury (the spiritual head of the Church of England in the UK).

– We wanted to form an alliance between us, " the Duchess of Sussex explained.
